Justin Rayside, a defensive end from Riverside (Cal.) Community College, announced on his Facebook page Tuesday that he was verbally committing to IU.

Rivals.com has Rayside rated at two stars. He totaled 45 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks this season, said he would be willing to come to a colder climate than California to play for a major program.

"I want to play football at a high level," Rayside said after his Dec. 2 visit. "The Big Ten is as big as it can get, really, especially being down there in Indiana with the Big Ten Championship, just seeing how much people of Indiana love football and how they follow their teams."

He also said the facilities, notably Memorial Stadium, impressed him during his visit. A chat with his family yesterday and a final visit from IU Coach Kevin Wilson convinced Rayside to become a Hooiser, he said.

"(IU) is a place where I can take my game and develop it and make an impact," Rayside said.

Rayside is the 21st commit for the Hoosiers' 2012 recruiting class and is the fifth junior college transfer. He is the fourth defensive end to commit.

He has his last exam at Riverside on Thursday and will report to IU a few days before classes start on Jan. 9, Rayside said.
