Linebacker Leon Beckum will return to the lineup when the Hoosiers visit Iowa Saturday, Co-Defensive Coordinator Mike Ekeler said Tuesday. In Beckum's absence, the Hoosiers have played freshman safety Mark Murphy at the linebacker position on occasion. Before he got hurt, Beckum was one of IU's true leaders on defense, opposite Jeff Thomas at weakside linebacker.
Wide receiver Damarlo Belcher, who aggravated a knee injury Saturday against Wisconsin, is questionable against Iowa. IU Coach Kevin Wilson said Belcher practiced on a limited basis on Monday. He spent the second half against Wisconsin in street clothes. Center Will Matte, who was also injured against Wisconsin, missed Monday's practice with a sprained knee. His status for Saturday is unknown.
Meanwhile defensive end Bobby Richardson, who missed the Wisconsin game with a concussion, practiced Monday and will likely return to the lineup against Iowa.
