The Hoosiers men's soccer team won their first two home games of the season and got on track offensively to the tune of nine goals in two games, so an obvious question what does this all mean?

1. Soffner continues to shine: Junior goalie has given up one goal in three regular season games leading the Hoosiers to a 2-0-1 start. The only blip on his resume thus far has been a late first half goal in the Hoosiers 3-1 victory over Saint Louis Friday night. The defense in front of Soffner lead by Tommy Meyer has been superb, if they keep this up the sky is the limit for this team.

2. Zavaleta comes up big: Freshman Eriq Zavaleta scored two goals and tallied two assists in the two home games over the weekend. While most freshman look a little nervous, Zavaleta looked like a hardened veteran of the Big Ten and not a freshman playing in his first home games in Bloomington. On a team that was wondering where they would get their scoring, that may have been answered with the strong play of No. 2.

3. Team First: Even though it is only three games into the season, coach Todd Yeagley's team appears to already have the ultimate goal in sight, an 8th Star. After winning the school's 12th Adidas/IU Credit Union Classic Yeagley made it known that the team was excited but wanted to move on to their next opponent. This is an attitude that can be contagious and something that is conducive to success.

4. Scoring not a problem: After managing zero goals in 110 minutes in a double overtime tie at No. 10 Notre Dame, the Hoosiers scored 9 goals in 180 minutes against Saint Louis and Dayton. Obviously the Hoosiers aren't going to average 4.5 goals per game like they did over the weekend, but the constant pressure that they applied will yield results if they are consistent.

5. Don't Get Carried Away: While the two victories over Saint Louis and Dayton caused celebrations across Bloomington, the Hoosiers will see tougher tests the rest of the season and only time will tell how they handle those new challenges but it is certainly a good start for Todd Yeagley and the Hoosiers.
