The IU football team released its depth chart Monday afternoon, but the roster's biggest mystery, the starting quarterback, remains unsolved.

Sophomores Dusty Kiel and Edward Wright-Baker were both listed atop the depth chart. True freshman Tre Roberson was not listed and appears to have been eliminated from the race to start. He took snaps with primarily the third-team at last Thursday's scrimmage.

Aside from the quarterback battle, the depth chart is perhaps more notable for who is noton it than who is listed. Junior running back, sophomore wide receiver Duwyce Wilson and sophomore tight end Ted Bolser are each missing from the two-deep. All three have missed practice time during the preseason with injuries.

Senior Damarlo Belcher and sophomore Kofi Hughes will start at receiver as expected. They are joined by senior Dre Muhammad who was recently elevated to scholarship from walk-on status and who, by many accounts, has had an outstanding fall camp. The second-string receivers are all true freshman: Cody Latimer, Jay McCants and 5-foot-7, 153 pound Shane Wynn.

Wynn will also return kicks this season alongside redshirt freshman Matt Perez, the starter at running back. Muhammad will return punts.

Sophomore junior college transfer Stephen Houston will back up Perez.

Senior Max Dedmond will start at tight end with true freshman Jake Reed, who only recently switched to the position from the defensive line, backing him up.

As expected, IU will field an experienced offensive line featuring seniors Andrew McDonald, Justin Pagan and Josh Hager and juniors Will Matte and Marc Damisch.

The defensive line is also as predicted. Senior Darius Johnson and redshirt freshman Ryan Phyllis will start at the end positions. Juniors Adam Replogle and Larry Black will play tackle alongside each other for the third straight year.

Redshirt freshman Chase Hoobler won the final starting spot alongside seniors Jeff Thomas and Leon Beckum at linebacker.

After playing safety last season, sophomores Greg Heban and Lawrence Barnett have shifted to cornerback and will start. Seniors Jarrell Drane and Chris Adkins are the starters at safety.

Sophomore Mitch Ewald and junior Adam Pines are the starters and kicker and punter respectively. True freshman Matt Dooley is the long snapper and senior quarterback Teddy Schell will hold once again.
