The final result: IU claimed a 6-5 victory Friday in 13 innings against Morehead State after senior T.C. Knipp hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the 13th to bat in freshman Dustin DeMuth.

Player of the game: Knipp. In addition to his walkoff hit, the Carmel, Ind. native made a game-saving play in the top of the ninth when he caught a fly in right field and then threw a cannon to home to tag out Morehead State baserunner Andrew Deeds, preserving a 3-3 tie.

Interesting stats: Junior pitcher Chad Martin, a transfer from Vincennes University, made his first start for the Hoosiers and looked good, pitching six innings, recording six strikeouts and allowing no earned runs. All three runs Morehead State scored in the top of the third were unearned.

Surprise of the game: Junior outfielder Alex Dickerson, who appeared to be sitting out his second straight game while recovering from his collision last weekend, came in to pinch-hit in the bottom of the 11th. The All-American hit a single to bat in the tying run, resulting in a 5-5 score at that point.

Next for IU: The Hoosiers face host Tennessee at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
