Nick Freeland will miss Saturday's game at Western Kentucky with a knee injury, according to the updated injury report released Thursday. Freeland, who has been in a battle with Mitch Ewald for the starting job throughout camp, may never get the job back.
IU coach Bill Lynch has maintained but that the kicking job is Freeland's to lose, but with the injury, the opposite may be true. If Ewald kicks well against WKU this weekend, it would be difficult for Lynch to hand the job right back to Freeland.
