Broad Ripple High School junior Ron Patterson has committed to play for Tom Crean and the Hoosiers, according to reports from The Louisville Courier-Journal and The Indianapolis Star.
Patterson, a 6-3, 195-pound shooting guard, is ranked No. 65 in the Class of 2012 by Rivals.com and is the 10th best two-guard in the class according the the website. He also had offers from Cincinnati, DePaul, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Xavier.
Patterson becomes the second player to commit to IU in a one week period, joining 7-footer Peter Jurkin, who gave his verbal to Crean last Monday. Patterson's commitment could be even more significant than that of Jurkin, however, because he will now try to convince AAU teammate and Lawrence Central junior Jeremy Hollowell to join him in Bloomington.
Hollowell, a 6-6, 190-pound small forward, is ranked No. 35 in the class by Rivals.com. He has offers from many of the same schools as Patterson, but has not yet received one from Purdue.
