After opening day one of the NCAA Central regional with a 318, the IU women's golf team followed that up with a 328 during Friday morning's second round.

Currently, IU sits in a tie for 17th place (out of 24 teams) with half the field still playing Otter Creek Golf Course trying to complete the second round. In all likelihood, the Hoosiers will not move up on the leader board because all 12 teams still on the golf course have a considerable lead over IU.

Leading the Hoosiers during Friday's second round was freshman Jackie Yanch with an 80, followed by senior Kellye Belcher with an 81, and senior Laura Nochta with an 82.

Rounding out the IU lineup were freshmen Kate Coons with an 85 and Pam Burneski with an 86.

The NCAA Central Regional is being hosted by Indiana University and is being contested at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind. The NCAA Tournament is divided into 3 separate 24-team regionals with the top 8 teams from each regional moving onto the NCAA Championships on May 18-21 in Wilmington, N.C, along with the top 2 individuals on non-advancing teams.

All 24 teams will close out the regional tomorrow during the third and final round.
