IU men's tennis coach Randy Bloemendaal has struggled to find a consistent doubles lineup. He's used nearly every player on his roster at some point this season.

But after watching his Hoosiers sweep all three doubles matches against No. 39 Minnesota on Sunday, he has to be feeling pretty good.

Junior Lachlan Ferguson and freshman Josh MacTaggart have been playing at the No. 1 spot of late and they have dominated the competition. They are 9-2 as a team this season, and all of those matches came against the meat of the schedule.

Ferguson and MacTaggart have been so successful because they compliment each other very well. Both are smart, disciplined players that understand what it takes to win. Neither guy tries to do too much and they usually get the job done- together.

On Sunday, those two guys teamed up for an 8-2 victory over the No. 27 doubles team in the nation. Ferguson and MacTaggart took the last seven games of the match.

IU also looked good at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Junior Santiago Gruter and sophomore Jeremy Langer have been pretty consistent together during the Big Ten season and the freshman tandem of Isade Juneau and Alex van Gils got a win against the Gophers.

The Hoosiers still need a lot more consistency in singles play, but it looks as if at least part of their game is improving.
