Jacob Bushue, No. 69 on the 2010 top-100 for men's soccer, sat down with me a few moments ago to talk about his time at IU thus far. He signed with IU for the 2010 season and is currently enrolled and attending classes in Bloomington. As before, the full audio follows the jump, and here are some quotes from Bushue.
On IU coach Todd Yeagley
I almost went to Wisconsin because of him. We're pretty close. We get along real well. He's a real good coach.
On what he brings to the table for IU
I think I bring some toughness and hard work that's going to be needed in the class. We've got a lot of players in my recruiting class that are big attacking players and real flashy and stuff. I can sit there and hold it down in the midfield. Let them do all of the attacking.
I used to be a player that was real flashy and dribbled all the time and stuff. When I started playing with the Chicago Magic, they started moving me toward more of a defensive midfielder role when I started growing. From there, I just had to learn to be tough in that position, or else you're not going to make it. It just developed over time, really.
On his feelings about IU thus far
I love the campus and everything. It really feels like home. And, then, the soccer is just fantastic. The atmosphere that is at all the practices and in the locker room and everything is what I've always wanted.
