The IU men's tennis team opens its home season tomorrow morning against Tennessee Tech.
The Hoosiers were solid at home during the fall when freshman Josh MacTaggart advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Regional. They will look to continue that success against two inferior opponents on Saturday.
IU split its two matches on the road last weekend, knocking off No. 52 Columbia and falling to No. 10 Mississippi. A loss to a top-10 team seemed respectable, but IU coach Randy Bloemendaal was extremely disappointed after the match. He felt that his team was "just as good or better" than the Rebels and he really believed his Hoosiers could win.
Saturday's matches should provide the young Hoosiers with some much needed confidence, but they won't prove whether or not IU is a national contender. The Hoosiers should win both matches going away, but to show the rest of the country that they are for real, they are going to have to beat a highly-ranked team.
WEEKEND PREDICTIONS: IU goes 2-0 against Tennessee Tech and Butler in dominant fashion.
