For any student getting bored at home and looking to head back to campus early, the Big Ten Network and TeamWorks Media are looking for the best student basketball players (not on the actual team) on campus.

They are producing a one-hour show called Hoops on Campus, which will largely center around a dunk contest and a skills contest. An open try-out will be held some time on Wednesday, Jan. 6, where students will be chosen for the actual Thursday competition, according to an email we receieved.

The producers are also seeking "as many spectators and spirit leader's for Thursday's shoot" as possible, hoping for the most "rowdy" IU fans. The try-out and real competition are likely to be held at the SRSC, but more details to come.

More info on the show:

Each week the show is hosted from one campus and profiles the basketball "vibe" at that institution. The shows are being hosted by Big Ten Network anchor Mike Hall and former All-American and NBA All-Star Jimmy Jackson. Big Ten Network reporters Tiffany Simons and Natalie Kane will also contribute segments to the program. The show airs every Friday night for eight consecutive nights, starting on January 8, 2010.
