While beat reporters Zina Kumok and DeAntae Prince are covering the game live from MSG, I'll be holding it down from the first row of my living room. Here's some some pregame material:

  • Tonight's game, airing on ESPN at 9:00 p.m., will follow Georgetown-Butler. Dan Shulman, Jay Bilas and Doris Burke will have the call.
  • Pitt holds the 4-3 all-time series edge, most recently recording a 22-point win versus the Hoosiers in the second round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament
  • This is IU's second appearance in the Jimmy V Classic, the first coming 10 years ago when the event was held at the Meadowlands. The 1999 Hoosiers defeated North Carolina 82-73 in a game that included a Bob Knight technical foul
  • IU is 11-8 all-time at the Garden, while Pitt has gone 23-9 in the last nine years alone
  • Tom Crean is looking for his 200th win as a head coach (11th season), while Jamie Dixon had recorded 170 wins (7th season)
  • Dixon was the 2009 Naismith National Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 31-5 record a year ago
  • Jermaine Dixon, the only returning starter for Pitt, is expected to see limited action tonight. Dixon has yet to play this year due to a fractured foot.
  • Pitt, known under Dixon for having "New York toughness," has three guys from the area: Travon Woodall, Dante Taylor and New Jersey native Ashton Gibbs
  • Pitt center Gary McGhee is from Anderson, Ind., and his father competed in track and field at IU in the early 1980s
  • Write-up from Andy Katz on tonight's matchup
