FINAL: Hoosiers fall to the Vikings in OT, 77-75
UPDATE: Hoosiers finish the second half tied, 66-66. Heading into overtime against Cleveland State
PREGAME: The IU women's basketball team faces one of their last non-conference foes today against Cleveland State. The Cleveland State Vikings are 3-5 on the season. The Hoosiers outmatch the Vikings in most of the statistic areas for the 2009-2010 season, only putting up less in both rebounding margin and turnovers per game. The Vikings average 18.4 turnovers per game, while the Hoosiers average 16.6; the rebounding margin is -5.1 for the Hoosiers and -1.1 for the Vikings. But, one of the key reasons the Hoosiers have had problems rebounding is due to their opponents being rebound powerhouses, particularly Florida State.
Junior guard and team captain Jori Davis comes into the game ranked 4th in Big Ten scoring with 17.5 points per game. Two other Hoosiers also fall within the top 30 scorers for the conference, Jamie Braun with 12.1 and Hope Elam with 9.7 points per game.
The Hoosiers also bring two players shooting over 50% from the 3-point line into the matchup against the Vikings. Davis is ranked 1st in the Big Ten with 58.3% and Freshman Aulani Sinclair is ranked 5th with 50%.
Now while several Hoosiers have the potential to have a huge game today, Jamie Braun is the one to watch. Braun came off a huge slump against St. Louis on December 13, scoring 23 points. Braun also has the potential to move up on the career stats list in two areas today. Braun is 9 assists away from moving into 8th place all-time, and needs 7 steals to move into 5th place all time.
The game is not televised but is broadcasted on WHCC 105.1 FM in Bloomington, or online at horizonleaguenetwork.tv
