The Hoosiers will take on NAIA national runner-up Lambuth in an exhibition game at 2 p.m. Sunday in Assembly Hall.
It will be the Hoosiers first match-up since losing in the WNIT Quarterfinals to Illinois State March 29, 2009. Last season the Hoosiers won 21 games but also lost four seniors, including three starters who averaged at least 10 points per game.
The Hoosiers return guards Jamie Braun and Jori Davis who averaged 12.7 and 11.8 points per game respectively. IU also gains the services of Junior College transfer Hope Elam who averaged 21.2 points and 11 rebounds per game respectively while being named an NJCAA First Team All-American.
Here are the quotes that did not make it into the story that ran in the paper and online.
Jamie Braun:
On playing Lambuth
"Obviously, we are going to take it seriously since it is our first game and you can never take any team for granted"
On switching positions
"You have to get into that mindset." "I have to go out and be a good two-guard."
On the game not counting towards the teams record
"It is a game and we want to play against someone else besides ourselves." "Every school plays these games to get a feel of themselves as a team."
Jori Davis
On the season in general
"We are going to be a different team but we want to keep up our running game and rely on returning players."
Coach Felisha Legette Jack
On how she feels the team can do this season
"We are excited about the year and getting ready." "We don't predict the future and are looking for the chips to fall into place."
On this game specifically
"We need to stay pleasant in our progression and if we do that, the journey won't seem long"
