The IU volleyball team completed the T.I.S. College Bookstore IU Invitational with a straight-set victory over North Carolina A&T.
The Hoosiers (11-3) won by scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-18.
The Hoosiers cruised in the match's initial set with freshman outside hitter Jordan Haverly recording four kills and a service ace. Junior middle blocker and right-side hitter Taylor Wittmer also contributed heavily in the first with four kills of her own as well as two total blocks, one solo.
The second set was much closer with the score knotted 9-9 before IU went on a run. Freshman middle blocker Samantha Thrower killed two balls and added a solo block, and sophomore libero Caitlin Cox registered three service aces late in the set to put the Hoosiers up 2-0.
The Hoosiers utilized mainly reserves in the match's final contest. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Weeg had her biggest contribution on the season thus far, registering four kills and a block with Thrower as IU put away the match.
"It was a good confidence boost for me," Weeg said of her performance.
Cox and junior middle blocker Ashley Benson were named to the all-tournament team, and freshman setter Whitney Granado posted a career-high 31 assists in the victory.
IU now looks to Big Ten play, which opens Friday at home against No. 6 Michigan.
