The Hoosiers thus far have gained nine verbal commitments for the 2010 season. Among the recruits are several players with top 100 position rankings and even one four-star recruit.

Meet the newest Hoosiers:

  1. Andre Kates, CB. (Clinton, Maryland; Erie Community College) Kates was the first to commit to the Hoosiers back in May. The 6-foot, 190 pound player recorded 49 tackles, three interceptions, and received first team all-conference honors in his first season. Scout.com rated Kates as a two star recruit, while ESPN.com did not rank him. Kates originally committed to Florida as a high school senior, but failed to make the grades to play at a Division I school, according to Scout.com. Kates also considered Miami, Maryland, Illinois, Clemson, and Baylor
  2. Leneil Himes, TE. (Plymouth, Indiana; Plymouth High School) The 6-foot-3, 245 pound player committed to the Hoosiers on June 19. Scout.com ranked Himes as a two-star recruit, while ESPN.com ranked him as a 74 (out of 100) at the 'good prospect' level. During his 2008 season at Plymouth High School, Himes caught 15 passes and had two interceptions, both of which he returned for touchdowns, according to ESPN.com. Himes also considered Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, and Western Michigan.
  3. Logan Young, WR. (Muncie, Indiana; Delta High School) The 6-foot-5, 190 pound player committed on June 19 as well. ESPN.com ranked him a 76, as a 'good prospect', and Scout.com ranked Young as a two star recruit. Young also considered Ball State and Purdue.
  4. Antonio Banks, RB. (Middletown, Ohio; Middletown High School) Banks committed on June 20. The 5-foot-10, 200 pound player received a grade 73,a 'good prospect' ranking, from ESPN.com and was named a two-star recruit by Scout.com. Banks also considered Ball State, Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Purdue.
  5. Xavier Whitaker, RB. (Brookfield, Wisconsin; Brookfield Central High School) The 6-foot-2, 195 pound player committed on June 21. Scout.com ranked Whitaker as a three-star recruit and ranked him 71 among all other running backs in the 2010 class. Also considered Buffalo, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, and Wisconsin.
  6. Ryan Phillis, DE. (Youngstown, Ohio;Boardman High School) Phillis committed on June 25, the fifth recruit to do so in a seven day span. Scout.com ranked the 6-foot-3, 235 pound player as a two-star recruit.
  7. Jibreel Black, DE. (Wyoming, Ohio; Wyoming High School) Black committed on June 29. The 6-foot-2, 260 pound player recorded 73 tackles and seven sacks in his 2008 season, according to ESPN.com. Black was ranked as a four-star recruit and given a ranking of 16 among other defensive ends by Scout.com. ESPN.com gave Black a grade of 78, in the 'good prospect' section. Black also considered Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, and West Virginia. In all, Black received over 20 scholarship offers, seven of which were Big Ten schools. Jibreel is also the younger brother of current Hoosier Larry Black, a RS DT going into his sophomore season.
  8. Marlandez Harris, OG. (Springfield Illinois; Sacred Heart Griffin High School) Harris committed to the Hoosiers on June 30, the seventh overall in June. The 6-foot-4, 325 pound player was given a one-star rating by Scout.com. Harris also considered Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana State, Louisville, and Southern Illinois.
  9. Matt Perez, RB (Park Ridge, Illinois; Maine Township High School) The 6-foot, 197 pound running back committed July 1. ESPN.com ranked Perez as a 'good prospect' with a grade of 74. Scout.com did not rank him. Perez also considered Ball State, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Purdue.
The Hoosiers currently have offers extended to four players with high interest in playing for Indiana; CB Tre Boston, WR Earlzo Singleton, DT Joel Cox, and Bryn Schwartz, according to Scout.com.
