Thirty-four road games came to an end with an extra-inning win Wednesday evening against Evansville. IU won 10-8 in 10 innings of play.

Evansville-native Kipp Schutz, junior Josh Phegley and sophomore Jerrud Sabourin combined for seven RBI. The game marked Schutz's first plate appearance in a Hoosier uniform in his hometown.

Schutz hit a home run and Phegley jacked two over the left-field fence. The homers make Phegley's 15th and 16th on the season.

Eight runs already on the board for Evansville, freshman pitcher Matt Igel saved the day. Allowing one hit in only 3 2/3 innings of work, Igel picked up his first W in a Hoosier jersey.

"I thought we swung the bat pretty well," IU coach Tracy Smith said. "I was very pleased with the performance of Matt Ingel coming in and taking control of the game late. Really, today he was the key to victory.

The Hoosiers prepare for their final conference match-up against Michigan State beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sembower Field.
