Junior Matt Bashore pitched eight near-flawless innings Friday against Michigan State. The Hoosiers, 28-24 (16-6 Big Ten), increased their win streak to seven after Bashore's 6-1 performance.
Matching his season high, Bashore hurled for 10 strikeouts. He gave up just three hits and one walk in his eight shutout innings of work. Collecting 92 Ks on the season, Bashore now sits fifth all-time, one strke-out behind teammate Eric Arnett. With 228 career striekouts, Bashore is 16 Ks behind all-time strike-out leader Eric Jacques.
Offensively, the Hoosiers bats connected for 10 hits. Sophomore Jerrud Sabourin and freshman Alex Dickerson collected two hits a piece. Each lefty also had an RBI on the day.
But it was Junior Jake Dunning who led the cream and crimson. Dunning went 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs, two RBI, and two stolen bases.
IU, tied for second place with Ohio State, sits a half-game behind conference leading Minnesota.
Indiana concludes its three-game series against the Spartans Saturday at Sembower Field. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
