(UPDATE - see below about a recent update on Dominique Ferguson)

Jersey point guard Kyrie Irving is up to No. 8 in the new Scout.com Top 75 rankings of the Class of 2010 recruits. Irving, who will visit campus again this summer, has IU among his favorites.

Behind Irving at No. 9 is Dominique Ferguson, a former UK commit who recently mentioned IU among his top seven schools. He plans to make a decision this summer or early next fall.

Other players with interest in/from IU is Will Barton, now ranked No. 10, and Jacksonville prospect Stacey Poole who is at No. 72.

Scouts lists IU as one of the schools in the running for No. 13 Adreian Payne, but Payne is likely to choose between West Virginia, Ohio State, Xavier, Dayton, Cincinnati and possibly Florida. Payne is from Dayton, Ohio, and is likely to stay closer to home.

He is also connected with former Akron assistant Jeff Boals who is now at OSU. The Buckeyes already have four commitments from Top 75 players including two Top 10 guys, Jared Sullinger and DeShaun Thomas. Illinois (3), Wisconsin (1) and Penn State (1) are other Big Ten schools with commitments from Scout.com Top 75 recruits.
