What: IU vs. Northwestern

When: Saturday Dec. 20 at 5p.m. ET

Where: Assembly Hall (Bloomington, Indiana)

Why: To play in the Big Ten opener for both teams

Scouting the Wildcats

The Wildcats bring in a team that is 3-7, but have played better than their record would indicate with close games against quality opponents. Against Clemson in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge they took Clemson to overtime, loosing by only three points.

Northwestern brings in two players that are averaging double-figures in scoring in Amy Jaeschke (16.4) and Kristin Cartwright (11.3). Jaeschke has been a powerful presence all year. In her last game, a victory over Texas Southern the sophomore tied a Big Ten single-game record with 9 BLOCKS.

Last time vs. Northwestern: The Hoosiers were 3-0 against the Wildcats last season, including the most recent victory, 74-52 in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament. IU also leads the overall series 31-28

So what do you think? Will this be a competitive game? I think the Hoosiers have more firepower on offense, and more importantly they have more experienced and battle tested leaders, which could be the difference, especially with the Hoosiers also having the home court advantage.
