Hey folks,

And so it comes, another installment of The ZOsterman Weekend, this time with some election spice. If elections can actually have spice.

Regardless, while The ZOsterman Weekend is aware -- and perhaps in agreement -- that this election seems like it's been going on for the last nine years, we still feel it necessary to insert a GO-VOTE plug right here. Seriously folks, it doesn't matter who you vote for, just make sure you vote.

The ZOsterman Weekend asks you never complain about the other guy should you choose not to. And now, on with the show.

A public service announcement, or something vaguely like it

The Hoosiers actually play an exhibition game this Friday night, against a real other team with real other uniforms and real other players. Yes, that means no more jersey switches or dressed-out managers, it's actually almost basketball season in Indiana again.

The entire affair can be viewed online at bigtennetwork.com, or you can just mosey over to that big building off 17th Street, the one that looks like a gigantic top hat.

Considering I'm guessing most of you not from Indiana have no idea what to expect from the Anderson Ravens, TZW will throw some goodness your way. -The Ravens went 4-1 on a preseason exhibition swing that ended in August in Canada of all places. -They just got a "facelift" to their facilities, as seen here. -Anderson finished 15-12 overall last year, but just 6-7 on the road. -Pike product and Indianapolis native senior guard Mike Russell led the team in scoring last year with 15.3 points per game. 6-foot-5 forward Ryan Fultz from Knightstown, Ind., was second in that category, with 13.3 PPG. Fultz is also the team's leading returning rebounder, clocking in last year at 4.3 boards per contest.

Crossing borders

The ZOsterman Weekend respects that IU football issues are usually reserved for the boys over at Under the Rock. But has anyone ever seen a football game quite so -- dare we say it -- downright wacky as the one The Weekend watched on Saturday?

Seven sacks of and 485 passing yards by the same quarterback? Two missed extra points? Winning the ground game by a jaw-dropping margin (272-37), and yet still losing.

The Weekend is perplexed.

The Weekend would like to thank our friend, IDS recruiting reporter Jordan Cohen, for updating us as to the whereabouts of Brian Butch, who know plies his considerable trade (height) with Jiangsu Nangang of the Chinese Basketball Association. Clicking on that link will send you to a smiling picture of Butch next to several teammates, including former Florida standout Donnell Harvey.

The ZOsterman Weekend now poses a question to you for next week. Bob Knight came out in mid-October and didn't kill the notion of an eventual return to coaching. The question is this: Where do you want to see Knight return to coaching? Two caveats -- your answer can't be IU and I give points for creativity. The Weekend promises to post the best responses next week.

Evening, folks.
