Coming on the heels of a three-game winning streak, IU came into the match the favorite to win Wednesday night at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Competing against Kentucky, the No. 17 Hoosiers scored in the first six seconds as senior forward Kevin Noschang scored around Wildcat goalkeeper Dan Williams.
In the 22nd minute, forward Marco dos Santos equalized the game.
Here are some quotes post-game:
"It was a game that started out well," said IU coach Mike Freitag. "I thought we were good for the first 10 minutes. We made a mistake on the play, let them get back in the game for a while."
"There's nothing better than that," Noschang said. "That lasted for about 10 minutes. As with other games where we've gotten ahead we kind of got complacent, and it came back to bite us in the end."
"Sometimes you think you're going to dominate teams," Freitag said. "There's a lot of parity in college soccer. They had some chances but I think if you watched the game I think we were in control the majority of the game."
"It's nice to start off that way (with a 1-0 lead)," Freitag said. "But sometimes all of a sudden you think it's going to be easy."
