10:58: The press conference is over. I was furiously typing so I was unable to give immediate updates. Here are some of the highlights:

- Glass has a sense of humor, something he displayed regularly while at the podium. He said hes had the opportunity to do some cool things in his life, including bringing the Super Bowl to Indianapolis. Now that he's been tabbed IU's next AD he admitted that the Super Bowl is now "the second coolest thing I've done in my life."

- He is a self-described "Indiana boy." He remembers growing up and re-enacting the Cardiac Kids during recess and he also remembers skipping school in 1976 to greet the U.S. National Team at the Indy airport.

- He told a story of when he was hitch-hiking as a college student and was picked up by Ralph Floyd, then the AD at IU. Floyd gave him a ride, but not before stopping by the ticket office to make sure Glass bought student season tickets. Some way, Floyd convince Glass that day to buy tickets, and Glass warned that hitch-hikers should be wary that he might do the same one day.

- Glass met his wife at an IU Football game and married her after one. "They were different games," Glass said, drawing a laugh from the audience.

- Glass remembers living on East 8th St. and having Randy Wittman coming to some parties he and his roommates had thrown.

- Most importantly, Glass outlined the three things his athletic department will be known for: compliance, first and foremost, academic achievement and excellence in athletics.

We'll have more updates later, including quotes from our one-on-one interview with Glass later this afternoon.

-----

10:15:President McRobbie will speak first and introduce Glass, then Glass will speak for a few minutes. Finally, Bill Stephan, the chairman of the search committee, will also have some remarks.

-----

10:09: Set to stat at 10:15. The entire search committee is gathered to our left, including Tom Crean. Coach Jack has also been spotted. Things are filling up -- standing room only.

----- We're here across from Assembly Hall in the DeVault Alumni Center for the press conference to announce Indianapolis lawyer Fred Glass as IU's next athletic director.

We're used to having major press conferences in the Hoosier Room, so a change of scenery is nice. You can tell the room is going to fill up quickly -- in addition to a ton of media being here, there are a ton of people from the athletic department, the University and other IU representatives.

I'll try and bring you guys as many updates as possible during the press conference. We are going to have a chance to sit down one-on-one with Glass at 1:30 so stayed for that.
