One question that Hoosier fans have asked is whether any Marquette signees will try to follow Tom Crean to IU. The Golden Eagles' top recruit Tyshawn Taylor, ranked No. 101 in the class of 2008 according to Rivals.com, has already requested his release from Marquette.

Legendary prep coach Bob Hurley, a winner of 23 state titles and Taylor's coach at Saint Anthony High School (N.J.), told the IDS on Wednesday that Taylor sent something to Marquette asking for his release, but has yet to hear back. Hurley did say, however, that should Taylor be released, he likely would not be permitted to sign with another Big East school or IU.

Either way, Hurley said the situation at IU could be an issue, not to mention there are now uncertainties at Marquette too, which he called "unfortunate" and tough on a 17-year old.

"You don't hold (a coach) responsible, it's just the nature of the business," Hurley said.

Hurley said he had been fielding phone calls all afternoon from many schools including Seton Hall, Texas, St. Joseph's, Michigan, Florida, Virginia and Providence, most of which he said had entered the recruiting picture late after Taylor "came on the scene" and "exploded" last July. Taylor originally chose Marquette over Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
