Indiana Daily Student reporter Jordan Cohen got a hold of the newest Indiana Hoosier this afternoon, Devan Dumes.

Dumes, who played junior college basketball at Vincennes last year after transferring from Eastern Michigan, said he is excited to be a part of Tom Crean's program. He will officially sign with the Hoosiers on Tuesday, at the Wheeler-Dowe Boys and Girls Club (2310 East 30th Street in Indianapolis) at 7:00 p.m.

Dumes said both he and IU were interested in one and another and the two parties quickly set up an unofficial visit.

"(We) got down there and made magic happen," Dumes said. "(Crean is) very enthusiastic. I really like him. He seems like a nice guy."

Dumes' mother, Alison Evans, said her son initially started to be recruited by IU about a week ago.

"It went very fast," she said. "We were totally shocked. But he was very comfortable with coach Crean. He had more visits to make but decided not to."
