Hey folks,
As that unfortunate picture to the right of these words suggests, I will be writing on this blog for the duration of Little 500 season (which is far too short, only two and a half weeks til the race).
First let me introduce myself - I'm Zach Osterman. This is my third year riding for Sigma Alpha Mu, I've ridden the race every year I've been here.
There are four of us on the team this year, including myself (junior), Ben Gerber and Drew Kushnick (seniors) and rookie Stephen Quay (sophomore).
But enough of that. As the title appropriately suggests, this post is about ITTs tonight.
ITTs are the first real indicator of a team's raceday strength. General wisdom says strong ITTs means you have depth as a team, though it makes no guarantees, considering everyone should be riding plenty more than four laps in the race.
Mostly, it's just a judge of the depth and speed your team possesses.
ITTs are a strange beast, happening midweek. They sort of creep up on you, right after quals and scheduled around class.
They aren't too nervewracking, just four laps as hard as you can. More than anything, it's just exciting to get the series started, which means the race is coming soon.
One note on tonight, however: There's a chance it's going to start raining around 4 p.m., which could have a serious effect on the speed of the track tonight.
That's about it. A terrible first post, I know. But I promise I'll do better next time.
Until then, take it easy.
