IU President Michael McRobbie will hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon to announce an investigation into alleged recruiting violations, a source close to the situation told the IDS tonight. IU Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan will review the investigation and make a recommendation to McRobbie in the next several days, the source said.
The investigation will only cover the new material uncovered by the NCAA during its investigation, the source said.
Until then, IU coach Kelvin Sampson will continue to coach the Hoosiers.
The NCAA alleges Sampson and his staff committed five "major" violations by placing improper phone calls to recruits. One of the violations stems from impermissible gifts given to IU recruit Derek Elston.
Are you satisfied with this news? Do you think Sampson should be suspended while the investigation is underway?
