Hey folks,
Just a few postgame thoughts, as the title so aptly suggests. -The Hoosiers broke ranks a little bit tonight, seeing as they put just two players in double figures. But those two players - Whitney Thomas and Jamie Braun - went off, combining for 41 points, 17 rebounds, four assists (all from Braun) and five steals. -Both coaches after the game emphasized the Hoosiers' ability to attack the basket and get layups and fouls as a key to the game. Kevin Borseth from Michigan was particularly adamant about that element of IU's offense being a big part of the outcome. -Sunday was a big win for the Hoosiers, as they were tied before the game with Michigan for fifth in the Big Ten. The win gives them fifth place outright, and an Iowa win at home this afternoon against Minnesota would put the Hoosiers just a half-game out of fourth. The top five seeds in the Big Ten tournament get a first-round bye. -Jamie Braun is on an absolute tear, and should be a contender for Big Ten Player of the Week this week. She had 15 against Michigan State and 22 against Michigan, and has now scored in double figures in her last 12 games. She has four 20+ point games this season, and she is one of 23 players listed as "Making a Buzz" on www.pointguard.org, the site in charge of the Nancy Lieberman Award for point guard of the year. She leads the Hoosiers in scoring with 15.3 points per game overall and 17.2 points per game in Big Ten play. Coach Jack has said numerous times recently that she thinks Braun should be receiving more national attention. While it may not come quickly this year, the sophomore seems to be setting herself up as one of the nation's top point guards in the next couple of years.
That's about it from the Hall. Hope you enjoyed the game, and check back with us Wednesday for a report on the Hoosiers' road game against Wisconsin. Take it easy.
