The PJ Star is now reporting that Matt Roth has verbally committed to play for IU starting next fall. Roth is the third recruit to join coach Kelvin Sampson's 2008 recruiting class, and the second soon-to-be-Hoosier to come from a neighboring state. Roth joins guard Bud Mackey, from Kentucky, and Devin Ebanks, from Connecticut. IU fans hope the 6-foot-2 guard is not the final piece to next year's recruiting class. The Hoosiers will host Tyler Zeller, a big man and a native Hoosier, next month for a recruiting visit.

News of Roth's committment comes on the same day the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel reports IU might be without center Ben Allen. The News-Sentinel speculates Allen will transfer schools before the start of this season. Check back to the basketblog and the print edition of the IDS for more on both of these stories.
