Wow.
After losing to Uruguay two nights ago, the United States wasted a 14-point first half lead and eventually lost to Panama, 75-67. The loss means the U.S. can do no better than fifth place in the Pan Am Games.
Wow.
For the second straight game, D.J. White started and played well in a losing effort. The Hoosier finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Georgetown's Roy Hibbert led the way for the U.S. with 19 points.
Despite playing poorly in both games and losing to two countries that were severe underdogs, the U.S.'s head coach Jay Wright seems satisfied.
"I'm proud of our guys...Obviously, I'm disappointed in the outcome, but not in our performance," Wright said. "I think they're giving us everything they've got and I'm proud of their effort."
Is that a good thing? Are you telling me that America had its best college players giving their maximum effort and they lost to Uruguay and Panama? I didn't even know they had teams.
This leads us to an obvious question: What in the world is wrong with USA Basketball? Ever since the Dream Team in Barcelona, US Hoops have been on a steady decline. So what needs to be changed? The coaching? The players? The strategy? Is there something in the water? Did Tim Donaghy have five grand on Panama?
Wow.
