What exactly is a Purple Ace? I'm not really sure, but I do know they have the ugliest purple uniforms with orange trim. Oh, right, the game.
Well, the Purple Aces came out strong today, beating the Hoosiers 8-1 at Sembower. Evansville did most of the damage in two innings with four runs in the third and three in the eighth.
IU did get on the board first on senior shortstop Keith Haas' RBI groundout in the first inning. Freshman center fielder Evan Crawford trotted home on the play, but that was the last time a Hoosier would cross the plate.
So after five games in three days, thank you crazy April weather, the Hoosiers have a couple days off. IU returns to action Friday at Purdue to start a four-game series with the Boilermakers.
