The following is a press release written by Kristy Taylor for the Monroe County Humane Association.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., Scout’s Honor will present the 18th annual Tails on the Town benefiting Monroe County Humane Association. The event will take place at Woolery Mill, 2250 W. Sunstone Dr., Bloomington, IN.
This signature fundraising event brings together animal lovers, community members, and local businesses for a high-energy evening that supports MCHA’s services and programs as we recover from February’s tornado. The night celebrates resilience and invests in a stronger future for MCHA and the animals we serve.
Guests will enjoy a night of delicious eats, sweet treats, cocktails and mocktails, and an exciting lineup of activities — including lots of carnival games, a caricature artist, photo booth, raffles, live and silent auctions, and a bidding frenzy. Catch up with friends and fellow guests while local legend DJShawnD sets the perfect soundtrack, then step onto the dance floor and keep the celebration going. Every guest will receive a complimentary signature cocktail provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
For the first time, this year’s Tails on the Town will feature two separate Fund-a-Need opportunities.
One focuses on the everyday work that keeps pets healthy, fed, safe, and with the families who love them. The second focuses on recovering and rebuilding after the February tornado in a way that allows us to strengthen MCHA’s campus, improve functionality and safety, and increase our capacity to serve animals in the future.
Fund-a-Need #1: Keeping Care Accessible
Every day, pets come through our doors because they have nowhere else to turn. Every day, the cost of providing that care continues to rise. Medical supplies cost more. Vaccines cost more. Food costs more. Every part of this work costs more. Your support helps keep our programs accessible for the thousands of pets who rely on us.
Fund-a-Need #2: Growing Beyond Recovery
In February, a tornado heavily damaged MCHA’s campus. Walls cracked. Play yards were destroyed. Equipment and supplies were lost. Critical spaces became unusable overnight.
Your support helps us recover from the tornado while also building a stronger future for the animals who rely on us. This includes creating a new facility that expands our ability to keep hungry pets fed while positioning MCHA to serve as a regional resource for pets in homes, shelters, and rescues across South Central Indiana. It also includes reimagining our Crisis Housing space to increase capacity, improve safety and functionality, and create a better environment for the pets in our care.
This is more than recovery. It is an investment in the future of MCHA and the thousands of animals we serve every year.
We are also excited to share that an anonymous donor has once again stepped forward with a $20,000 match for this year’s Fund-a-Need. Every dollar you give to this year’s Fund a Need will be matched, up to $20,000. Your impact will go twice as far.
“The tornado disrupted so many parts of our campus and daily operations, but it also brought an incredible amount of support, kindness, and new connections into our lives. We’ve made so many new friends over the last few months,” said Andrew Krebbs, Executive Director, “Tails on the Town is a great opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate how far we’ve come and look toward the future together.”
Tickets are available now and may be purchased at monroehumane.org/tott. Guests are encouraged to purchase early, as the event is expected to sell out.
