Indiana men’s basketball earned its first signature win of the Darian DeVries era Tuesday night over Purdue.

Just a day later, the Hoosiers landed four-star small forward Trevor Manhertz, according to his X post. Manhertz chose Indiana over Duke University and the University of Louisville.

Manhertz is a small forward originally slated to graduate from Christ School in Cary, North Carolina, in 2027, but he’s opted to reclassify to 2026 and join Indiana ahead of next season.

Manhertz is ranked as the 52nd-best player nationally, according to 247 Sports’ Composite rankings, and the 15th-best small forward. The 6-foot-8, 185-pound Manhertz plays for Garner Road on the AAU circuit and knocked down nine 3-pointers in a contest last summer.

Manhertz joins four-star small forward Vaughn Karvala and four-star combo guard Prince-Alexander Moody in the Hoosiers’ 2026 recruiting class. Karvala is ranked the 44th-best player nationally, while Moody slots in as the 179th-best.

DeVries’ squad sits at 14-7 and 5-5 in conference play after their five-point victory over the Boilermakers, with a West Coast trip for games against UCLA and USC on the horizon.

While the second half of Big Ten play and postseason play remain for the Hoosiers, they’re slated to lose six players to graduation at season’s end. DeVries now has three commitments from high school recruits with Manhertz’s pledge, but must largely prioritize the transfer portal to continue building his 2026-27 roster.
