Inter Miami CF, the 2025 MLS Cup Champion, selected Indiana men’s soccer junior defender Alex Barger in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday. Barger was picked No. 60 overall in the second round.
In 2025, Barger recorded three goals — a single-season career high — and two assists, while fortifying the Hoosiers’ defense. Across 61 appearances in three seasons at Indiana, Barger totaled five goals and five assists with 54 starts.
Barger was ranked No. 26 in Top Drawer Soccer’s top 100 college soccer freshmen rankings in 2023. The Naperville, Illinois, native helped the Hoosiers earn two consecutive Big Ten regular season titles in 2023 and 2024, and a Big Ten Tournament title in 2023.
This year’s draft marked the 11th consecutive season that Indiana has produced an MLS selection. Along with Barger, senior forward Palmer Ault and junior forward Collins Oduro each earned MLS SuperDraft selections in 2024 — the only other players on the 2025 Indiana roster to be drafted.
The Colorado Rapids selected Ault with the No. 36 overall pick in last season’s MLS SuperDraft, while Orlando City SC picked Oduro No. 57 overall. Both Ault and Oduro returned to Indiana for the 2025 season, but their respective professional teams retained their signing rights.
