Indiana volleyball players awarded Big Ten weekly honors for efforts at home invitational

After sweeping all three opponents in its home invitational, two Indiana volleyball players were honored for their performances in helping the Hoosiers start 5-0 for the first time since 2017. 

Two freshmen were recognized by the Big Ten on Monday: freshman outside hitter Jaidyn Jager was honored as Big Ten Freshman of the Week, while freshman setter Teodora Kričković was named Big Ten Setter of the Week. 

Jager recorded her first 20-kill match against Southeast Missouri State University during the Hoosiers first match of the Indiana Invitational on Sept. 4. She also tallied seven digs and had a .515 hitting percentage against the Redhawks. The Carlsbad, California, native had 12 kills and 10 digs against Northern Kentuckey University and seven kills, two aces and nine digs against Western Michigan University on Sept. 5.  

Kričković was honored for her efforts in helping Indiana to a .401 hitting percentage over its three matches. Against Southeast Missouri State, the Novi Sad, Serbia, native recorded 46 assists through three sets to go along with nine digs. Kričković then had 34 assists and 33 assists against Northern Kentucky and Western Michigan, respectively.  

The Hoosiers will take on Bowling Green University in their first match of the Rambler Invitational at 4 p.m. Sept. 11 at Joseph J. Gentile Arena in Chicago. Indiana will then play Loyola University Chicago on Sept. 12 and Stephen F. Austin State University on Sept. 13.
