The following press release is written by Michelle Moss for the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network.

Musical Volunteers Needed

Do you play an instrument? Share your gift of music with hospice patients at SouthernCare Hospice – Bloomington. All instruments are welcome! Your music can bring comfort, joy, and peace to their patients. Scheduling is flexible and based on your availability. You don't need to be a professional, just someone with a kind heart and a love for sharing music!

A drug screen, background check, and TB test is required for all volunteers. SouthernCare Hospice – Bloomington is committed to clinical excellence while providing comfort and dignity to both the patient and family who are facing a life-limiting illness.

Outdoor/Garden Volunteer

Volunteers (18 years and older) are needed to help outdoors at the Wylie House Museum, maintaining the historic and native garden beds. Work may include removing invasive plant species, planting native and heirloom flowers or vegetables, weeding, laying mulch, and trimming flowers or plants.

Registrants will receive an email with additional information and volunteer opportunities. No experience is necessary. Tools are provided. Closed-toed shoes, sunblock, and water bottles are recommended.

Built in 1835, Wylie House was the home of Indiana University's first president, Andrew Wylie, and his family. Today, Wylie House is owned and operated by Indiana University Libraries as a historic house museum.

Organizing and Sorting

Art Remains Creative ReUse is seeking volunteers (ages 10 and up) to help sort donation bags—such as separating beads by type or color. This is a family-friendly and wheelchair-accessible opportunity, taking place at the Art Remains Creative location inside College Mall.

Their vision is to cultivate a community of creative, conscious consumers who choose to reuse quality materials before purchasing new ones for artistic, educational, or business activities.
