The following is a press release written by Ximena Martinez Ruiz for the City of Bloomington.
Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson will hold a Traveling Town Hall on Thursday, November 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sherwood Oaks Church, 2700 E Rogers Road. The event will be divided into two sessions, each aimed at engaging with different segments of the Bloomington community.
The first town hall, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., is open to all Bloomington residents. Attendees will interact with local government officials, ask questions, and gain insight into various city projects and services. City Council members Courtney Daily and Matt Flaherty are expected to attend.
The second session, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., will be focused on the Hispanic and Latinx community. Translators from Iglesia Hispana Sherwood Oaks will be available to ensure accessibility and facilitate participation. Council member Isak Nti Asare will join this discussion.
These Traveling Town Halls are part of the Thomson administration’s broader initiative to make local government more accessible and responsive. Held every other month in different districts, the meetings provide a platform for residents to connect with their representatives, voice concerns, and stay informed about ongoing city initiatives.
Upon arrival, attendees will receive index cards to write down questions or comments for the mayor and council members. Mayor Thomson will start the event with a brief update on current city projects before addressing the submitted questions. The session will conclude with a live Q&A if time permits.
