Comedian Matt Rife canceled both of his sold-out 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows for May 29 at IU Auditorium, after the second show was already scheduled to begin.

Rife said in a Facebook post the cancellation was due to a "very last minute medical emergency."

"I've been doing 40+ shows a month for a year and half and never had to do something like this, I'm so so sorry, i hope you understand and i love you so much,” Matt said in the post.

Rife’s last-minute cancellation comes after the shows were already rescheduled from Feb. 14 due to scheduling conflicts. That postponement came just five days before the show, on Feb. 9.

The IU Auditorium has shared that ticketholders will receive a full refund within 30 days.

The announcement of Rife’s original IU performance drew controversy as students criticized what they called misogynistic and ableist comments in his latest Netflix stand-up special, “Matt Rife: Natural Selection,” and on social media.

Rife is currently touring America on his largest tour yet, “Matt Rife: ProbleMATTic Tour,” and he is set to stop May 30 to June 2 at the Chicago Theater, a performance which has not been canceled.

The 28-year-old comedian has inked a deal with Netflix to make two more stand up specials for the platform and has built a platform touring with renowned performers. He has also made TV appearances on MTV and in shows like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and “Fresh Off the Boat.”
