Lilly’s Local Tunes: A guide to live music events April 25-28

Welcome back to the weekend show guide. Take a break from studying for finals or celebrate the end of the school year with a live show.  

Thursday 

The pop punk band Fantastic Shams will celebrate the release of their self-titled debut LP at a record release party with guests Mike Adams at His Honest Weight at 9:30 p.m. at The Bishop Bar. Admission for this 21+ show is $10. 

Blues Jam, a monthly blues and jazz night, is back at 7 p.m. at The Blockhouse. 

Troubadour Thursday is back at 7 p.m. at The Orbit Room. This weekend’s lineup features local folk and acoustic artists Matt Lundquist, Claire Pendreigh, Eli Cherry, Trevor Webb, Mitch Marsh, TV Mike and Pete Doyle. Tickets are available online for $7. 

Country artist Trey Lewis with opener Hayden Coffman will take the stage at 8 p.m. at The Bluebird Nightclub. Lewis is currently on tour fresh off the release of his latest album “Troublemaker” which was released March 1. Tickets are $10 for this 21+ event. 

Friday 

Bloomington based bands Backyard Function and Welcome to the Neighborhood will rock the stage at 9 p.m. at The Bluebird Nightclub. See this show for $10 if you’re over 21. 

The Andy Cobine Trio, a jazz group comprised of Andy Cobine on guitar, bassist Steve Mascari, and drummer Jamey Reid, will perform at 6:30 p.m. at The Orbit Room. Tickets are $7 for this performance. 

Saturday 

Corporate Circus will headline at 10:30 p.m. at The Bishop with other hardcore bands Heavy Mother and Spaghetti Midwestern will follow. Admission for this 21+ show is $10. 

Six Foot Blonde, the Bloomington indie rock band, will return at 9 p.m. to the Bluebird stage. This event is $10 for those who are 21+. 

At 8 p.m. at The Blockhouse, many up and coming young alternative pop artists will perform including Emma Peridot, Sarah Cowan and Bloomington’s own Noah Steiner and Quilt. Admission is $8 at the door for this 21+ night. 

The African American Arts Institute will present The African American Choral Ensemble's 2024 Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. at Ruth N. Halls Theater in the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. The award-winning choral ensemble will share selections from spiritual and folk songs to contemporary gospel.
