The Graduate Students in African Studies will hold its 10th Annual Indiana University International Conference on Africa from March 22-23.

This year’s conference is themed “Africa Our Future,” and it will feature presenters from 17 states and 14 countries, according to a GSAS statement. IU students, staff and faculty will also present.

The conference will feature 20 sessions focusing on diverse issues Africa faces, according to GSAS’s conference team. Issues include sustainable development, music and social change, and education reform.

The conference is free and open to all. People can attend a single session or multiple.

GSAS has also partnered with IU’s Africa Today journal, which is offering presenters the opportunity to have academic papers peer-reviewed and published in a special edition.

Keynote speakers include Oluseun Onigbinde, co-founder and director of Nigerian fiscal transparency group BudgIT, and Bongeka BuhlebaMashasha Hlengwa-Selepe, an isiZulu language lecturer for the African Studies Program at IU.

GSAS is a graduate student organization bringing together students with research interests in Africa or the African diaspora.
