Indiana men’s basketball will not accept an NIT bid if invited, an IU Athletics spokesperson confirmed to the Indiana Daily Student on Friday. The news was first reported by 247sports insider Jeff Rabjohns.

The Hoosiers will finish their season with a 19-14 record after losing 93-66 to Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

According to several bracketologists such as ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, Indiana was squarely off the bubble for most of the season. The Hoosiers finished with a 3-8 record in the NCAA’s Quadrant 1 NET rankings and had one Quadrant 3 loss. They ranked 94th in the metric entering Friday night.

Indiana will spend its time focusing on recruiting and the transfer portal, according to Rabjohns. The Hoosiers have two graduating seniors, and sophomore center Kel’el Ware is expected to enter his name in the 2024 NBA Draft.
