UPDATE: Monroe County placed under travel watch and a weather advisory for poor road conditions, snow

Breaking News Filler

Monroe County’s travel status was updated to a watch Friday evening for deteriorating road conditions until further notice, according to the Monroe County Emergency Management Agency and Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

A watch means road conditions are threatening to public safety, and only essential travel is recommended. Businesses, schools, governments and other organizations should implement their emergency action plans, according to the Indiana DHS.

Monroe County is also under a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service until 9 p.m. Friday. The county is expected to receive one to three inches of snow, causing hazardous road conditions.

Monroe County residents can monitor the forecast through local weather channels and NWS live trackers.
