Indiana men’s soccer junior forward Sam Sarver was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American third team Friday.
Sarver led the Hoosiers with 14 goal contributions, accumulating eight goals and six assists this season. Sarver now stands at 52 career points, the 50th member of Indiana’s 50 career point club.
The Chesterland, Ohio, native scored five goals in conference play — tied for most in the Big Ten. He also earned a spot on the All-Big Ten first team along with junior midfielder Patrick McDonald and senior defender Joey Maher
Sarver had no shortage of dramatic goals, scoring five game-winning goals, including his winner against Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament championship.
His brace in Indiana’s regular season 2-1 win against Penn State on Oct.7 also proved crucial for the Hoosiers, starting a four-game win streak that turned their season around.
Sarver’s All-American status marks the 10th consecutive season in which a Hoosier has received the honor. He also became the 50th Indiana player to get an All-American nod.
