Isabella Vesperini: Taylor Swift is overrated. To be clear, I fully respect her as a person and do like some of her music. Though for the most part, I think people hype her up way too much. Most of her music is mediocre and not that catchy; people give her too much credit. There are so many other artists out there who deserve some love and attention for the hard work they do, such as OSKAR O. and Bebe Rexha.
Natalie Fitzgibbons: Sometimes you just have to laugh about it. It’s important to find joy in not just the little things but the hardships in life. Everything happens for a reason, and it’s healthy to take a step back in the situation you’re in and find some humor in it, because you can’t be sad or mad forever.
Ellie Albin: I love, love, love fruits and veggies, but even I know that kale is simply not good. Its shining moments really are few and far between. That being said — you should still eat it. It’s good for you, and — when masked with the taste of other veggies, tofu and spices — it works well in a salad. Eat your greens, folks.
Jared Quigg: I recently got around to reading Sally Rooney’s novel, “Normal People,” which I devoured in two sittings and loved with my whole heart. The left, in this country especially, need to prop her up and champion her work more than they currently do. She is a popular author, to be sure, but she’s not a household name and she should be. An openly Marxist writer with this much talent? A champion for Palestinian liberation, a vocal critic of bourgeois society? She is a blessing for the socialist movement, a master storyteller spreading progressive messages in an entertaining and digestible way.
Elizabeth Valadez: I recently saw a post circulating that read, “Things broke people always have money for,” and the comments were full of things like drugs, alcohol and everything they want but don’t need. And I just think it’s incredibly absurd that we think we can and should be able to police what people in poverty consume. No one makes the same comments about the rich people who have multiple homes or jets or businesses.
Joey Sills: Most breakfast cereals are too sweet. I'm not a fan of a lot of the popular ones: Lucky Charms, Froot Loops, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Cocoa Puffs don’t appeal to me in the slightest. I shouldn’t be consuming a good portion of a healthy daily sugar intake before noon. Personally, if I do eat cereal in the morning, I go for options like Honey Nut Cheerios or Honey Bunches of Oats — they’re both sweet, but not overwhelmingly so.
Danny William: The pencil is the superior writing instrument. Easy erasability – most come with an eraser attached, – wonderful portability and many types, from mechanical to analog. So what if you have to sharpen it every so often? You’re an adult. You can do it.
