Indiana softball will return to the diamond this weekend to play in the Lady Bison Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. The Hoosiers are coming off a solid showing in their home opening games in the Hoosier Classic, finishing 3-1 on March 6.

The Hoosiers’ weekend starts with doubleheaders on two consecutive days, followed by one game on Sunday. Friday will start off with a matchup against the University of Evansville (13-5) at 1:30 p.m. then a meeting with Lipscomb University (7-8) at 6:30 p.m.

Another doubleheader with the same opponents is slated for Saturday as the Hoosiers will once again take on Evansville at 11 a.m. and Lipscomb at 4 p.m.

On Sunday, Team 50 will wrap up its showing at the Lady Bison Classic when they take on the University of Akron (7-6) at 1 p.m.

After bringing their record to 9-9 following the Hoosier Classic, the Hoosiers will look to get above .500 for the first time since they were 3-2 prior to their loss against Mississippi State University on Feb. 17.

Indiana’s performance in the Hoosier Classic once again showed what the team is capable of, scoring 20 runs in their final two games compared to just four runs in the first two games of the tournament.

For the Hoosiers to be successful once again this weekend, the offense will need to be able to get runners across the plate. In its most recent loss, Indiana only scored one run and could never get much going on offense or defense against Wisconsin on March 5. The Hoosiers are hoping to continue the streak of scoring 10 or more runs in a game this weekend.

Although it has yet to be determined whether the Lady Bison Classic will be televised, IUHoosiers Radio will have radio broadcasts of each game this weekend.
