Firefighters respond Wednesday to apartment complex fire on North Lincoln Street

The Bloomington Fire Department responded to an apartment complex owned by Pavilion Properties in the 500 block of North Lincoln Street around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a press release from the City of Bloomington.  

More than 40 people have been displaced by the fire, according to the release. BFD contacted the American Red Cross and the IU Dean of Students to assist displaced occupants.  

No injuries were reported among the residents of the complex, according to the release. Two firefighters were taken to the emergency department by IU Health Ambulance and later released. No details on the cause of the fire are currently available.  

Bloomington Animal Care and Control were present at the scene to capture and care for several pets that escaped from the fire, according to the release. Residents with missing pets should contact the Bloomington Animal Shelter. The stray recovery fee will be waived for any pets displaced by the fire.
