IU’s Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association released new procedures and guidelines as paired social events resume Saturday, according to an email obtained by the Indiana Daily Student.

PHA announced all social activities would be canceled indefinitely Nov. 3 amid rising sexual assault cases on campus. The suspension was scheduled to last until the end of the fall semester, according to a PHA email sent to members Nov. 6.

Social event guest lists will be sent ahead of time to the respective risk manager and also updated afterwards to ensure accuracy, according to the email. Everyone at the event must be a member of either paired chapter or be on the guest list.

“We are confident that this new chapter of Greek life will bring about a safer and more inclusive community for all,” the email stated. “Ultimately it rests on each of you, as brothers and sisters to be responsible for each other.”

The decision to have in-person events due to the pandemic has been left up to the discretion of individual households, according to the email.

During the suspension, all IFC and PHA chapters participated in sexual assualt prevention training conducted by the PHA’s safe sisters intiative, according to the email. The chapters also completed an in-depth review of risk management procedures.
