Indiana field hockey freshman midfielder Kira Curland was named Second Team All-Big Ten by the conference's coaches, the Big Ten announced in a release Wednesday.

Curland is the first Indiana player to be announced to an All-Big Ten honoree since current senior forward Hailey Couch in 2019.

Curland is tied for first on the team in assists and led the team in goals and points. Her seven goals are the most by a freshman since 2004.

Senior midfielder Jes McGivern was named one of nine Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honorees.

McGivern was the team captain for the second half of the season, appearing in 64 games and starting 42.

Indiana will play Rutgers in the Big Ten Tournament at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bauer Track & Field Complex in Piscataway, New Jersey.
