IU Auditorium will present “Hoosiers: 35 Years Later, A Conversation with Screenwriter and IU Alum Angelo Pizzo” at 8 p.m. March 31. The free event will be live-streamed on Zoom and viewer questions will be encouraged throughout, according to the event’s web page

Pizzo’s 1986 film “Hoosiers” follows Norman Dale, a high school coach working to redeem himself by working with a basketball team in a small Indiana town. Pizzo will discuss the making of the film and its continued importance for Indiana residents, according to the web page.

“For many in the state of Indiana, the movie was part of their upbringing and showcases the glory days and importance of Indiana high school basketball,” the web page said.

“Hoosiers” was nominated for two Academy Award nominations, according to the web page. Pizzo, who graduated from IU in 1971, also worked on sports films “Rudy” and “The Game of their Lives.”
